Thomas Kenaya

Thomas is a California Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years of professional experience, both with CPA firms and in private industry. He is a member of the California Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs. Thomas is a technical expert in the accounting field, particularly in the areas of technology, manufacturing, distribution, and life sciences.

Not just a ‘numbers person’, Thomas is particularly skilled at listening and disseminating information to achieve working solutions that really work for everyone. He is comfortable working with people at all levels to achieve outstanding, efficient results. He is frequently consulted on process improvements and quality control within Baker Tilly and for his clients. Thomas also receives high marks from students in all of the coursework he teaches (both technical and ‘soft’ subjects) and is a regular contributor to improving the San Diego community. Two of Thomas’ most recent community activities include serving as a committee member of the boards of local not for profits, and guest speaking at various universities across San Diego County. He serves as an ad-hoc Director on the CSUSM Foundation's Audit Committee.

Thomas is one of those rare people who innately recognizes that leadership is about bringing out the best in others.  He continues upon his responsibility of managing and mentoring San Diego office staff, and also invests his own time into thinking about the future of the firm and of the profession.  He believes that there is nothing more rewarding than helping clients do great things; it’s a process that Thomas feels honored to participate in.  The Baker Tilly team share Thomas’ operating values (ethics, quality, valuing people and continuous learning), allowing him to do what he loves while exercising his entrepreneurial spirit.

Thomas is a graduate of National University and is planning to commence advance coursework in the near future.  He has a passion for higher education and for teaching and would love to ultimately explore the opportunity to teach.
